Day One: New York City to East Lansing

This morning we got the truck loaded up with the help of some random Russian moving company, and were on our way. Despite the recurring motto we had living in New York that everything was always more difficult, leaving was surprisingly easy. Before we knew it, we were out of the Big Apple and on our way to the home of our alma mater, East Lansing.

Our friends Shannon and Eric offered to put us up after our long, 13-hour drive. Yikes!

The view from our old apartment in Brooklyn. Charming.

Our old living room. Please note, it's a bad idea to put hats on radiators.

Emma already has the mile-long stare.

Emma's seat in the car. She loves the middle.

Heading toward the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, on our way out.

So long, Manhattan!

Yankee Stadium, in the Bronx.

Boy am I excited!

The Garden State.

Beautiful Pennsylvania.

Home of NBC's The Office.

More lush Pennsylvania greens.

Just driving cross-country. No big deal.

The graphic sign in our truck.

Jess expresses her displeasure toward the rain.

Emma creeps closer to get a direct injection of sniffs.

Emma plays more like a bass.

She's keeping an eye on the white lines.

Some river. It looks neat.

Welcome to the beauty that is Ohio.

In honor of leaving New York, two musical selections. First, from Jess:

And now, from Wes:

And of course, today's route:

  2. Very envious of the two of you! The idea of a long road trip where the end result is the west coast makes me salivate. But then my dentist says I have a drooling problem anyway...
